The Honors Opportunity Program (HOP) is the Honors in the Major program for the College of Education. It offers a plan of study rooted in scholarship, research, and practice leading to graduation with Honors.

Key goals for HOP are:

• To promote an inclusive program
• To foster mentorships between researchers and future educators
• To provide challenging experiences designed for high-ability COE students

Program Overview

• Any College of Education student (TEP or ESHR) who is motivated and interested in HOP is invited to apply.
• Students are assigned an advisor through the Belin-Blank Center.
• Basic research principles and exposure to COE research agendas occur in the seminar course.
• Through a mentorship experience, students develop a plan and immerse themselves in a research-based exploration.
• Students choose from a variety of options to complete the five required Enhancement Experiences.
• Benefits include graduating with Honors distinction and satisfying the experiential learning requirement for University Honors.
• Students can graduate with COE Honors and University Honors.
• HOP is a flexible program with multiple pathways to allow for individual interest and creativity.
